So off I went to school.
In my mind, graduate school was supposed to be like my
undergraduate years, but I was greatly mistaken. The only
similarity to my carefree days of college was the fact that
I was back in a dorm.
I was 26 years old. I no longer had my car. I lived in
a dorm. At first glance, these were definitely some interesting
times.
Still, it was fun to meet new people and explore a new
city.
One area of my life, however, left much to be desired.
The girls at my school are notoriously unattractive. A
friend who had spent some time in the area prior to enrolling
at my school informed me that I better take my 'Harvard
goggles' off when I went home to New Jersey. This magical
set of blinders made even unattractive girls look appealing
once out of the confines of Harvard. I laughed, but I could
not deny that the women on campus left much to be desired.
I heard the New England Conservatory and Boston University
had much cuter girls. Since I hardly left Cambridge, I can
neither confirm nor deny this claim.
My daily life became quite predictable.
I worked out in the morning, went to class in the afternoon,
and studied in the evening.
Much to my surprise, one autumn day, my monotonous existence
was broken by an unexpected e-mail in my inbox.
I had to do a double take.
