Willie Moon

A city upon a hill cannot be hid; neither can Willie Moon’s passion
for leading others in praise. This zeal is what causes Willie Moon, a singer/ songwriter, to live with a mission to glorify God and spread the
gospel worldwide through the outpour of song. Willie Moon’s vision goes
beyond just singing and playing guitar. Instead, he sees his music as a collection
of spiritual weapons that bring healing and regeneration to the world. As
his fingers strum the acoustic guitar, he prays that the Spirit uses his music
to send angels, remove demons and encourage others. Many Christians love to
see prayer, others love to see people healed, but Willie Moon’s desire
is to see people praising God.
At a young age, the Alexandria, VA native began attending church with his
grandmother. In the 7th grade, Willie’s heart for music was uncovered
as the praise leader for the youth group took Willie under his wing and gave
him guitar lessons. His youth leader was the first to believe in and help
develop the musical treasure that rested inside of him. His example inspired
Willie and his encouragement continually told Willie that he would be leading
praise some day.
Music became more than just a hobby. Although he was unaware of what his purpose
was at the time, music sparked a dream that ultimately revealed his purpose.
Though he never saw pictures of famous worship bands, Willie envisioned himself
leading praise. He made light of the dream, but still continued to immerse
himself in music. He learned to play drums, bass guitar and in the 10th grade
he wrote his first song. Writing songs brought him to a deeper place of communion
with God unlike anything he ever experienced. From 10th grade on, songs continued
to flow through him, allowing him to realize that he possessed an intense
desire to write songs about God.
His praise leader’s encouragement came true in 11th grade when Willie
became the leader of the praise band. Throughout his senior year of high school,
his pastor would share with him the immense calling that she felt was placed
upon his life. Her continual affirmation strengthened Willie’s passion
for music and motivated him to make his prior dreams become reality. As she
confirmed his gift, Willie’s heart grew more intimate with the Lord-
a closeness that is reflected in his music.
His longing to pursue music soon took flight and gave him ambition to take
the music God gave him outside of the walls of the church and beyond the U.S.
Although his experiences have taken him farther in the Lord; he recognizes
that only the power of God can help him live out what he attains to. Still
he strives to live out his mission to glorify God and spread the gospel worldwide
through song.
